Shawn Farris is currently employed at Convergys Corporation as a Human Factors Specialist. His research interests include perception and human-computer-interaction. He is especially interested human-web-interaction and the application of Fitts' Law and other human-movement models to the design of computer interfaces (i.e., software rather than input devices such as a mice). Sr. Human Factors Analyst (2003 – Present)

Design and create specifications for graphical user interfaces and web user interfaces for large projects. Coordinate the work of other team members. Create and maintain project plans and estimates. Act as an internal consultant to user interface-related projects; at times providing technical guidance, process expertise, and strategic/tactical planning knowledge from a technical and/or business standpoint. Develop project specific and company user interface standards.

Usability Consultant & Interface Designer (2000 – Present)

Perform heuristic evaluations, iterative usability evaluations, and all other activities that support the entire web/software development lifecycle.

Kansas State University

Graduate Research & Teaching Assistant (1999 – 2003)

Assist researchers and teachers to develop web and software research tools and courseware. Research and study a diverse array of topics relating to human factors, including usability, accessibility, and distance education. Teach Introductory Psychology and Methods for Experimental Psychology.
